CSHR Intern Positions
Summer 2008 positions have been filled, but CSHR occassionally accepts internship applications for fall and/or spring positions. General responsibilities and requirments are below. If interested, please email to discuss possibilities.
Responsibilities
- Assist CSHR staff with assorted projects and programs, including preparations for the 2008 Human Rights Advocates Program, 2008 Summer School, and other capacity building projects (info on each is available at http://humanrights.columbia.edu/)
- Conference and event planning
- Organize and maintain program information and materials, respond to inquiries and general correspondence.
- Handle publication sales and collect syllabi and course descriptions.
- Assist CSHR staff with day-to-day administrative tasks, such as answering telephones, fielding student and visitor inquiries, plus campus errands and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Office experience required
- Interest in human rights and related topics
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Web-design experience desired
- Knowledge of database software desired
- Good at multitasking
- Good interpersonal skills

Please note
- CSHR staff are able to supervise internships for credit through internship programs at home universities.
- Internships are unpaid positions. CSHR staff may be able to provide a few tips with regard to housing or part time work in New York City, but no formal support will be available.
